About Us
A Project By BENELSAPUTRA @ BEN. A local Mentawaians live in capital of mentawai, Tuapejat Sipora Island.Currently stay in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, one of the main acces to Padang, to reach The Mentawai Island.Co-operated with some global agent, and link with Mentawai local surf community which located in Padang and Mentawai Island.For all acces from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, we will served and guide you from Kuala Lumpur until you reach Padang, and continue journey with a local ferry transfer (KM Ambu Ambu) to the Mentawai Island.Otherwise if you have another access, our representative or surf guide will great and welcoming you at Padang airport and guide you to the Mentawai until end of tour as state on the itinerary.
Biography Of Mentawai
Mentawai Islands is a district in West Sumatra Province located at a distance of 150 km off the coast of Sumatra Island. The total area of Mentawai District is 601 km ² area, inhibited by 64,235 people, mostly indigenous people. Mentawai Islands consists of 213 islands with 4 main islands of Siberut, Sipora, North Pagai and South Pagai. The capital of Mentawai is at the Tua Pejat.
Mentawai Islands have a coastline of 758 km. The waves at Mentawai Islands is the best for surfing. Mentawai Islands potential was discovered in the mid 90's when some surfers from Australia came to visit and saw the great waves that they never thought was in Mentawai. The surfer eventually broadcast their findings and some of them even built several beach resorts to serve foreign tourists who want to surf in the Mentawai.
The geographical position of the Mentawai Islands is off the coast of West Sumatra and has distinct benefits for tourism development of extreme sports. Located directly facing the open oceans, the Mentawai Islands is guaranteed with consistent waves all year round. Time between April to August which is summer holidays in Europe is the best time for surfing in Mentawai. In that season, Mentawai waves can reach six feet tall and this is what surfers really want. Mentawai Islands has 400 surfing spots, 23 of them has international standard waves. The surfing spots are around Nyang-Nyang, Coral Bajat, Karoniki, Pananggelat and Mainuk (Pulau Siberut), Katiet Basua (Sipoira Island) and North Pagai (Sikakap Island).
The recognition given by the surfers aorund the world could be seen by the amount of surfing events held in these islands. Every year in August, we could attend the world surfing championship. With this event, thousands of tourist especially surfing enthusiasts come to Mentawai from all around the world. Each tourist spends an average of U.S. $ 2500 for a uncomparable surfing experience in the Mentawai.

Accomodation
Accommodation is located in Tuapejat, Sipora, Mentawai. It's called "Hotel Bintang",it's more less 100 mtrs distance from boat. Hotel Bintang is not a luxury hotel, but nice clean and tidy. It's famous among surfers.
Ferry Transfer
The Ambu Ambu Ferry is considered the most comfortable, economical and reliable means of public transport between Padang and the Mentawai Islands chain. It’s now departing on week III and week IV to Tuapejat Sipora, and have found it to be very reliable. It is comfortable, stable offering a smoot ride and offers very comfortable sleeping quarters for VIP guests on the third deck that can be booked in advance.
Ambu Ambu Ferry has 2 main engines, 2 auxiliary engines and 21 certified crew. 3 quad share and 5 twin share air-conditioned cabins are available for hire on the third deck and an additional air – conditioned VIP lounge sleeps another 60 guests in comfortable reclining chairs, also with a canteen on the main deck serving cold beer, hot and cold beverages and a variety of snacks.
Speed Boat Transfer To Surf Break
We use a locally built longboat for most our surfing powered by a 40 Hp Yamaha outboard. Our boat will have you at any wave surrounding Sipora within 30 minutes.

The Waves
The Mentawai Islands are considered to be one of the most consistent surfing destinations on the planet. Although a few massive swells of ten foot plus hit the islands each season the truth is that the waves are more likely to be in the three to six foot range. Whether it is shallow barreling waves or more cruisy waves with long workable walls Mentawai has what you are looking for.
Our surfing focus is on the waves Sorroundeing of Tuapejat. there are over 10 high quality waves in this region including the world class Telescopes. All of these waves are reached in under 20 minutes by longboat from Tuapejat.
Just a few minutes from the Hotel, you can see a little right hander, that the local kids call Suicides. This wave can offer some fun waves on a high tide or if you are lucky enough to catch it on a big west swell it transforms into one of the longest rights in Indonesia.
A 10 minute boat ride will have you around at "Icelands", one of the big wave spots of the Mentawais and a little bit further you will discover "Ombak Tidur", the most consistent right in the region.

On top of these there are a few other waves that work on different tides and swell directions such as "Tikus", "Twiggies", "Ulars" and "Hookers".
Again, there is only ever a maximum of 58 to12 surfers on 1 trip at a time. This means that more of the time guests will be able to surf the waves they want with less people in the water.
There are some great waves surrounding Tuapejat, Sipora.

Telescopes is a fun wave suitable for all standards of surfing when it is small offering little cover ups but on bigger days it offers one of the longest, straightest, barrels in the Mentawais. 10 minutes by boat.
Scarecrows
"Scarecrows" or "Diablos" as it is also known, another quality left that usually has a little more size and few less people on it than "Telescopes". While it needs a bit of east in the wind to straighten it up but it is easily one of the most rippable waves in the region. 25 minutes by boat.
Ombak tidur
Just a few hundred metres from icelands this is the most consistent right hander in the region. 5 minutes by boat.
Icelands
Icelands is a left that is considered one of the big wave spots of the Mentawais as it can hold a swell of up to 5m without too much trouble. It's best with a bit of east in the wind so it changes by the hour. It can also offer a few fun rights on a small day. 5 minutes by boat.
Tikus
When Telescopes is double overhead tikus is a great wave that will be overhead and super fun, this side of the islands offer some great options for surfers not willing to risk life and limb on big days.
Suicides
Frontskis or Suicides as it is known by some of the local surfers sits right at the front of Awera. This wave can offer some fun waves on a high tide or if you are lucky enough to catch it on a big west swell it transforms into one of the longest rights in Indonesia.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival at Padang Airport,our tour guide will meet and greeting you.Ready to take you to the port.If your arrival at the early morning,our guide will take you to the transit hotel for relax while waiting for the ferry departure (with guest own expenses and request).5 pm ready to the port for take off to the Mentawais by Ambu Ambu Ferry at 8.00pm.
Day 2 - Arrival at the Mentawai harbor by Ambu Ambu ferry at 7.00am.Our guide will take you to the hotel near by the harbor.You can take some rest or sleep after overnight 10 hours on the ferry.3.00pm, Our guide are ready to bring you explore some beaches and Village around Tua Pejat.From the beach, you can see some surf spot that you will ride for tomorrow.
Day 3 to day 7 - Take a breakfast at the morning.Our Surf Guide and Boat crew which has knowledge about the wind to predict which wave you should ride first, they are ready to take you to the spot.You have 2 surf session in a day which is starting at the morning till afternoon and take a break for lunch time.Session will continue after take a 2 or 3 hours (depends on the conditions and your request) break time.1 spot for 1 session.
Day 8 - Ready to explore the Mentawai.Our guide ready to take you about 10.00 am by ride a motorcycle or use a charter car to visit local village and do extra activities such a fishing,snookering at the beach or just stay at the hotel for relax (extra activities are optional)
Day 9 - Prepare to going back home.Please check all your document,stuff and important thing.Our guide will take you at the afternoon and guide you to Padang by Ambu Ambu Ferry.We will arrive to Padang at the morning of the next day and ready to fly back.We will miss you and hope to see you again on the next trip.

Cancellation Policies.
Cancellation of a trip must be made no less than 30 days prior to your departure date. There are no refunds or partial refunds given for early departures from a designated charter, poor surf, or inclement weather. In addition, there are no refunds given for reasons pertaining to unstable global, national, or local political situations. Failure to pay your balance as specified will result in your loss of booking dates and or your deposit.
Travel Insurance.
Please keep in mind this trip are exclude travel insurance.We are not responsibility for any trip cancellation & interruption, baggage delay, baggage coverage, travel delay, emergency medical and dental, emergency medical transport & evacuation, and travel accident insurance.
Documents.
Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure. If applicable, a valid visa is required for travel. You must have at least one photocopy of your passport, and travel and medical insurance. When you are in Indonesia you will be issued an immigration form that you must keep until your departure. When you leave they will ask to see it to determine how long you were in Indonesia. If you lose this form you will be charged a fine and may miss your return flight.

Medical and Health.
It is vital if you have any type of medical condition that you make them known to us well before departure. This will enable us to assess personal and group risk that may result from any event caused by a known medical condition. It is highly recommended that you obtain medical insurance with a reputable insurance company prior to your departure. Vaccinations for tetanus, typhoid and hepatitis are advised, as is malaria medication for precautionary measures. Check with your local doctor.
Surf conditions.
We always hope for great surf, unfortunately though, there will be times when surf conditions are less than desirable and perhaps unsuitable for the less experienced surfer.We shall not be liable in the event, due to climatic or other reasons, that satisfactory surf is unavailable.
